A Beginning...
More than 2,600 years ago, the Buddha opened the path of Dhamma equally to women through the establishment of the Bhikkhunī Saṅgha, affirming their capacity for wisdom, leadership and liberation.
Inspired by this timeless vision, and by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's commitment to equality, dignity and social justice, the International Buddhist Women's Conference – Pune 2026 has been conceived as a platform for dialogue, learning and collaboration.
Under the theme "Wisdom in Motion: The Journey of Buddhist Women in Wisdom, Leadership and Social Transformation," the Conference brings together Bhikkhunīs, scholars, educators, professionals, artists, students and community leaders to share experiences, strengthen sisterhood and explore the role of Buddhist women in shaping a more compassionate and inclusive society.
Vision
We envision a vibrant global community of Buddhist women united by wisdom, compassion, and service. The International Buddhist Women's Conference is more than an annual gathering—it is the beginning of a long-term movement to nurture leadership, strengthen sisterhood, and inspire women to build a more equal, compassionate, and enlightened society, guided by the timeless teachings of the Buddha and the transformative vision of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
We believe that every woman has experiences worth sharing and every conversation has the power to inspire positive change. Wisdom in Motion seeks to build a community where learning extends beyond the Conference—encouraging dialogue, collaboration, mentorship and lasting friendships among Buddhist women across generations, professions and traditions.
